Just out of curiosity.......I know match day is in March of 4th year and I believe (please correct me if I am wrong!) that your internship starts in June/July after you graduate. Does that mean you have a couple months off between, or is there something else you have to do?

Yeah...you have to finish (and graduate) from medical school!

Depending on the schedule you make, you may or may not have a sub-I or other rotation remaining--it depends on the individual student and/or school.

So when do you actually graduate? I was under the impression that match day was right near graduation. Oops. Please excuse the ignorance of a soon to be med student 😳

I think it depends on how you schedule your 4th year. But most people end up having an elective or somethign else they are finishing up.

Sort of like when you find out which Med school you got into, but still have a dreaded couple of months of undergrad left (man was I useless then!)

At my med school, we graduate the first weekend in June. I have one rotation left to do in April-early May, then have the rest of May and most of June off. You will probably have some time off after the match, but it depends how you choose to organize your fourth year schedule.
