So I've got an inbox full of secondaries and I'm feeling a little bit nervous that one of them could be time-sensitive, kind of like Northwestern's which expires two weeks after you get it. Is anyone familiar with other schools having similar policies?

The UC schools have time sensitive ones, but its like 4 weeks. Most arent time sensitive, but each email you got for a seconday should give some blurb on if it needs to be done by X date. If not its easy to find on the website or u can just call them.

It's not uncommon, so you have to watch that closely. Don't be that guy from last year who suddenly noticed his secondary for one of his top choices was two weeks too late. Another guy posted that he hadn't opened the email due to being on vacation until one day before the due date, but he was able to call and get an extention since he'd called before it expired. My friend received one that had a date form ten days before she received it, and so had four days to get it in (thank you overnight service).

From what I've noticed, the screened ones seem to have time limits on them. If I were you I would put priority on those over the privates....

I want to say Rush's has an expiration date after you begin it, but I'm not 100% on that.

Just a quick question, I am worried that I might not receive all of my letters of rec by the time I have to send in my secondary application for some of the schools. Do I have to send in letters at the same time as secondary application or I just need to send them before the deadline? To be honest, my main worry is that AMCAS might take too long to process the letters thus making me miss my deadline.

Pretty sure it is usually just submitting the secondary. LORs will have a separate due date and can be sent in later.

Thank you very much, that is a load off my mind. I am going to double check just in case some schools have different requirements but I am less worried now.

I checked with WUSTL and UCSD and this is the case for them.

I think that VCU's secondary has to be back in within 60 days from date of receipt.

I don't know which specific schools have time sensitive secondaries, but I do know that it's a great rule of thumb to submit them within two weeks of receipt. Once you get started filling out secondaries you'll realize a lot of the essays are similar and you can cut and paste and add or delete a few sentences as needed to apply each "basic" essay specifically.

FYI I applied to 14 schools this year, and found that filling out each secondary took me an average of an hour. There was one week where I sent in five secondaries, it was busy and stressful, but at the end of the week I went on vacation to the coast and was so proud of myself for making that much progress!
