How long did you guys wait for your step 1 score? How about those through ecfmg? Is it a longer wait, than for US med students? On the website, will it just state that the score has been released, and then you wait for them to mail it, or will it post the score on the web as well?
Cheers.

Took it through the ECFMG, Nov. 25. Got my scores in 25 days. On every Wed. or Thur. OASIS lets you know that the score has been reported but does not reveal the score. I received my score in the mail on the Monday following the OASIS update.

it took me about 3 months (no i am not kidding). it was freaking painful.

here is what you need to be careful of...if you took the exam more than 120 days after your school signed the papers, ECFMG will re-verify that you are a student with your school. now, if your school is as ineffecient as my school, this means an extra 3 weeks or so. the letter gets mailed to school, has to be stamped and signed by the correct people and then mailed back. and, ecfmg had the incorrect mailing address in my case, so they even had to resend it! nightmare...

anyhow, if you took the test pretty quickly (<120 days) after you sent everything in, it should just be 3-4 weeks til they release the scores. you can check on OASIS to see if the scores have been reported. they are mailed within 1-2 days of being reported. once it is on OASIS as being reported, you can try to sign up for it again to see if you passed...if you passed, you cannot sign up for step 1 again, if you failed it will let you. there is no way to find out how you did until you get that paper, though....

good luck, and i feel your pain in the waiting!

For me, it took 4 weeks and 1 day exactly.

I didn't know about the 120-day rule. Is that for the Step2s also?

Oh yeah, and I feel your pain, Pill Counter. You gotta try to think about something else or it's gonna be a long wait.

i assume the rule is the same, i sure am not going to risk it....i am signing up at the last possible minute next time. that was a pain in the butt, i have never been so anxious.

oh well, live and learn!

Hmm, that kind of makes me wonder......

I just got my registration slip for step 2 cs (which I won't take till August). I just figured slot over the summer would be hard to come by. Now I'm figuring the secretary at my school won't have a clue what to do with suck a letter from the ecfmg.

Neil, did the ECFMG warn you that this was happening or did you call (after 6 weeks?) to find out when your scores were coming. And are you saying that you did the oasis trick, found out you passed, and then sat on pins and needles for 2 more months before they sent you the score? Wow.

no...it was worse. i waited 4 weeks, trying to see if my scores were reported. called ecfmg they said wait a couple more weeks. called again at week 6, cause they were still not reported on oasis. so, i called again. they looked up my file and said "oh, we sent a letter to your school on the day you took the exam to re-verify, and they have not replied. we cannot report or release your scores until then. this is standard if your test date is more than 120 days after the paperwork was signed by your school, blah blah blah."

so, then i had them tell me what address they sent it to. wrong address, some central university office that would have no idea what to do with the papers from ecfmg....so, i had to have another paper sent to my dean, so he could correct the address, wait for IMED to get the correct address on the database, then call back and have ecfmg send the papers to the correct address. at least they fed-exed it the second time, though.

this was a NIGHTMARE! they say they do it standard because 120 days is enough for our status to change at school, or whatever. i was pissed cause i paid for the exam, took it and stressed and they wouldn't give me the scores. now, what on earth harm is there in giving me scores!!! +pissed+

so, my advice is avoid that 120 day thing. it is supposedly done by computer, and i doubt that even the employees there all know about it. with the CSA it may be a bit more difficult to schedule, but i think you can do it within 120 days reasonably easy...

best of luck!

Oh, yah. That's where my stuff will be in 6 months.......

I really can't see myself rescheduling now, though. I haven't set the date yet, but I imagine the 120 days started counting when my school sent in the first confimation. I'll call the ecfmg office when the time comes and maybe they'll let me send in another confirmation.

What really bugs me about your story is that they didn't tell you at 4 weeks what was going on. Like it wouldn't say in your file with big fat letters that they were waiting for confirmation from your school. It's probably their policy not to do anything before 6 weeks.

Thanks for the info.

son of a b**ch!!!
I registered first week of September and wrote it mid-January, which I think puts me outside the 120 day window. Is it the date your school signed the document to your test date or to the start of your eligibility period? Cause if it's the latter, than I just squeak through.
It's been two days short of four weeks and it's already been torture.

Well, just checked IMED and they have the correct school address, now I just have to call the administration and nudge them to sign the documents quickly.

i was told it was from the date they sign documents to the test date...

did you talk to ecfmg and ask if they were sending the re-verification forms out? i think you are in much better shape, as everyone at your school can understand the form...english rocks, wish everyone here spoke it!

if it goes straight through, there should be no delay. they send it the day after you take the test, i think. so, if your school gets it, fills it out and sends it back, ecfmg may even get it before your scores are reported

what i did to speed it up was tell the school secretary to call me as soon as they recieved the info from ecfmg...when i got the call, i went in to make sure they filled it in correctly, then took the letter myself to the fed ex folks, and expressed it to ecfmg. got my scores 2 weeks later.

best of luck!

Spoke to ecfmg today, and yup, they mailed a recertification form to my school - which they haven't received.
I've given up hoping to know my score in the month of February.
Maybe April...

i feel your pain...but, those scores will come! just keep hassling everyone that you can get in touch with. and, mail the re-cert thingy yourself, via express mail when you school gets it. worth every penny, to know exactly where that sucker is once it leaves your hands.

Well it took two and half months, but finally got the dreaded score report. Missed my goal of the 230's by two points. Got a 228 with SD of 20.
Now on to Step 2 CS! Do you think it would be advisable to take it without having done O&G and Paeds rotations? Just I'll be in North America then, and would be a convenient time to get it over with.
cheers.
