If I get an interview offer, do I need to schedule right away? I guess the spots fill up, but how long do I have? Is it rude to wait? I'm just thinking of things geographically and when two places are in the same town I don't want to have to fly twice.

Try to plan out your interviews by geography, allowing a few days for programs in the same area or town, and then schedule interviews as soon as you can after you get the offer. That will ensure you get the days you want. It is not rude to wait, per se, but you will have less days to choose from.

No. What I meant was, as soon as you can after you get an interview offer, call or email the program to set up an interview time. It can be whatever fits into your schedule. Scheduling interviews later doesn't give us impression that you are not interested.
