I'm just wondering if the time between completing a file and getting an interview or rejection is standard or completely variable and if standard then what is the average time for most schools?

Is it normal for Ad Comms to put aside files and send info about interviews much later in the year or is this rare?

With interviews being offered at 5 schools I applied to and not hearing anything back yet, I'm wondering what's up...

Did anyone not get an interview until the Spring after turning everything in to the school in July and then get in right away?

The time varies. A school may interview you later in the season. It all depends. There is no rhyme or reason for the time frame in many cases.

I need to be more patient! And stop looking at the interview threads... 🙂

UCLAMAN is so right about it. There is absolutely no rhyme or reason why some schools may hold off on your file and invite you to interview later in the application cycle......just be happy if you get an interview because there are applicants out there who do not get invited for interviews. DoctorKevin, just relax and be patient......it'll happen in all due time. Good luck and stay positive!

This is how it was explained to me of how UTSA grants interviews;

The school first screens on whether to interview or not to interview.

Then it goes to the Dean of admissions and he ranks each applicant in the interview pile.

The number one's: walk on water
The number two's: overall good applicants
The number three's: ? of why they put them in the interview pile

The school might pull the number ones and interview them first & might pull deeper into the pile for the two's & three's later on in the season. I wouldn't worry though if you are not asked to interview first. That school might not have you in the walk on water catogory, however, they interview a lot of the 2's & 3's. So just because you haven't been offered to interview yet, doesn't mean your application is in the rejected pile. You might want to add other schools or just wait it out. Good luck!

Just my .02
