Timeframe for approval of additional PGY-1 spots

Just curious if anyone has any info on how long it takes for a program to be approved for additional PGY-1 spots.

I'm a soon-to-be AMG that has gone unmatched. Sent my application to a program that is in the process of getting approved for additional PGY-1 spots.

Note: I am still looking elsewhere to find any residency spot that comes my way.

How did you know the program was getting approved for more? I guess by word of mouth/contacts. Oh,the blessings of being an AMG.

Have you considered delaying graduation so you can apply next year?

I never really thought of that, to be honest. I can always run it by my school's Office of Student Affairs.

I guess I wanted to know more so because there is a small part of me that still believes in them expanding before July 1.

It will take somewhere between 1 day and never.

Sadly, I am not kidding. Each institution has it's own process, and each step of the way involves someone who can scuttle the deal.
