Hey, does anyone know how long it normally takes from the time an application is considered complete until you get invited to an interview? They say anytime between September and march but I'm just wondering if whether they say that so you wont bother them if you don’t get an interview after a couple of months.
Many thanks for any input, and good lucky all 🙂

Yup. Some schools take longer than others to process your application. Also, some schools' committees meet more often than others.

In general though, I think it's safe to say that the more a school "likes" you, the more quickly you'll get an interview.

You can get an invite as quickly as a day or two after you're "complete", but that's not common. Most schools take longer than that to process apps.

Here's a question for anyone who has an answer... So let's say that you're complete at most schools in July. If you're not invited for an interview after the first pass through your application, should you assume that you won't hear anything for months (i.e. until February)? Or do some schools give out invites continuously? Remember that this question is regarding someone who has been complete for quite some time.

agreed with the above posts.

every school is different. just dont be too shy; call them up every couple of weeks to make sure they didnt forget about you.

all the schools I got into last year did not interview me until AT LEAST december, some in january.

Most schools review applicant files at least monthly. You could hear back anytime the committee has reconsidered the "on hold" files they have not yet offered an interview or rejection to. My first interview was in January, and my last in June. It's hard to be patient, but if you haven't been rejected, they are still interested.

For an applicant who was complete two months ago, is it pretty safe to assume that her application has at the very least received a once-over and was passed up?

Yes, it was likely reviewed, but if a rejection wasn't received (and some have been getting them), the game isn't over yet.

When were you complete with most schools?

And, did you prod the schools at all for information?

As I recall (from two years ago), I was mostly complete in November (not being into SDN yet, at the time, and unaware of the common wisdom of "apply early"). Starting in January, I made a nuisance of myself every month with schools who had a phone line for inquiries. I wrote an update letter to everyone about February. My first rejection was January, the second in April. I still haven't heard from Loyola (lol).

I found the school-specific pre-allo threads to be a great resource, as many of us who were calling in would post what information they got out of the phone call, like date of next committee meetings, how many acceptances were sent out each month, what the waitlist movement was like, etc. And acceptees would post when they got their letters, and what they said.

I am still awaiting interview offers. Your feedback helps greatly!
