Good Morning SDN:

Having interviewed a great deal prior to ever even considering pharmacy school and having been the interviewer for 100+ interviewees in my former positions, I feel like I have a pretty good handle on doing a solid interview. So my question is regarding average timeframe to hear back with a written offer.

I have had 4 telephone interviews with locations around the US at this point. All of them communicated that they were interested in me and would be forwarding my information to their internal recruiters that I assume handle the paperwork. My first phone interview was over 3 weeks ago, while the last one was in the middle of last week. I have yet to get anything in writing in the mail.

The entities were: the biggest retailer in the world, the three letter location, a local but large and well known grocery store/drugstore chain, and a chain that has been way down there in the past ($1 share value) but has rebounded. I am sure you can figure out them all, except maybe the grocery store. So, the entities are solid. What is the typical timeframe to receive a written offer? I have followed up with all of them via phone and email today, except the most recent one who I spoke with mid last week. Will wait another week or so for that one.

What was the timeframe before you received a written job offer after the phone interview? 2011, 2012, and 2013 grads only please....since I don't think prior year's situations are applicable in this saturated job market

Thanks!

My wife had her written offer 3 days after her career fair interview. Other offers were slow to develop. I think it all depends on the DM in the area you are interested in.

Ranged from 2 weeks to 2 months.. with a weak correlation to how many times I called and bothered them.

company 1: 1 day
company 2: 1 week - 1.5 weeks

I always ask this at the end of interviews, but I have no real experience of getting offers to contribute.

anyone had this kind of experience? Last Tuesday, my preceptor in a chain pharmacy called DM for me. This Monday, DM called me and gave me a verbal offer and said he would send me a written offer generated by their system. I waited, waited, and called him on Wed and he said he didn't know why he can't send the offer to me via their system and said he already asked the corporate office to handle this, it may take a week. I know their career website sucks, I can't even update my resume on line. I was just worried that he will withdraw the offer if the system can't generate an offer. This is the only offer I have that doesn't require relocation. Can they just mail me an offer letter? worried now!

Just start an email conversation to have something in writing.

My experience is that it is totally company and need specific. If they need someone right now to fill a pressing need...you'll hear something fast, if not it might take awhile. In a non-pharmacy setting, I've been hired on the spot, and it's taken 3 mo's before. Also, did they say that this was the last step before a decision? Many times a phone interview is a screening tool...your case may be different if you are interviewing all over the nation, but they may narrow it to their favorite candidates and fly them in for a final decision. It's not bad to follow up, as long as you're professional and don't get annoying (ie...call every day).

Okay, derailing my own thead. I am on phone interview number ten in two months. Anyone else interviewing this much? Really burnt out!

I got the verbal offer almost 2 weeks ago. Already handed in my letter of resignation. The written offer can't come in until the directors negotiate a release date for me. (I am moving from one hospital to another within the health-system.)
