What is the traditional timeline and what are the requirements for each licensure as you progress in residency. Medical license, DEA # etc...

As a PG 1 I have applied for a temporary training license.

What I am after is obtaining legal requirements for moonlighting asap.

Each state is different. So you need to look up the requirements of your state on your states Medical Board website. But most require completion of internship and passing Step 3. Then you can apply for your Unrestricted medical license. Once you have that you can apply for an individual dea number online at the DEA website.

As far as outside moonlighting, At the earliest you will be able to do it is at somepoint in your pgy2 year. Although your program may not allow.

You can also check out inhouse moonlighting. Which means within your hospital system. Doesnt pay as well and counts against your 80hr workweek so its not the greatest. Also some places just dont have it available.
