Hell all,

I have received some secondaries after applying and am coming up on 2 weeks since the emails were received. I have heard the general consensus is to respond within 2 weeks of receiving the secondaries and would like to know how bad it is if I respond within more along the lines of 3 weeks. I have already pulled a loan out for the primaries and would like to hold off on another until the actual interview invites come. I get paid on the 15th this month, and received my first secondary on the 22nd. I've also heard schools like Midwestern favor the average applicants when received around September. Can anyone give me some guidance with this? If I have to pull out another loan and it is pertinent to have secondaries in sooner than late I will do so. Thank you!!

Sooner is better than later, some programs will give you a deadline. Common ones I've seen so far are 10 days to submit a secondary after having received it. Schools are not going to extend you an interview prior to reviewing your secondary application, so holding off until you can afford both primary + secondary application fees is probably the move to take.

Adcoms do not have time to review when a primary was received and then when a secondary was returned. It only negatively affects you since you will never get reviewed until all the pieces of the application are received. They get busier and busier so the turnaround time on review of the app will take longer.

Thanks for the help! Seems I will go forth with another loan to cover the remaining costs of the secondaries and in anticipation of II's. Thanks again!

Does anyone happen to have any good recommendations for options on loans btw? companies or options? Had my truck stolen and burned down during my gap year so I've been spending all this year working and trying to catch up lol

Avoid private loans if at all possible, but if necessary you may want to see if you pre-qualify at several lenders and banks, then choose the one with the lowest %APR. If you apply to multiple places in a short amount of time, you'd only receive one hard inquiry to your credit. There are many lenders and I suggest googling for a list of them that detail the pros and cons.
