Does anyone know what the sequence of events are in becoming a fully licensed cardiologist?
I know it's: 3 or 4 years undergrad + MCAT + application + 4 years medical school + USMLE step 1 + research b/w MS1 and 2 + ERAS application + ....the rest I don't know.
I mean, I know that you have to match into a 3 year IM program first, and then apply for a cardio fellowship - but do you need research during the 3 year residency, how many exams do you need to take during residency, during your fellowship, etc. Just wanna be in awe of how many exams, research, and CV padding and application processes people have to go through to become a cardiologist (or any other specialist for that matter) - the journey never ends it seems. The MCAT, undergrad, and applying for meds is just the beginning????
