hey,
I thought it might be helpful to create a list of when there will be updates from different schools. I start with the information I've collected, and anyone can correct/add to that list. I still don't know whether keeping track of dates makes it easier to wait to harder, but at this point collecting information is the only thing I can do. (sorry about the weird format, can't seem to make the size and font look normal)

Does anyone know the Davis timeline?? This is torture...its only Oct 3!

If I remember correctly, Tufts sends interview invites out in late December/Jan, and interviews in Feb. I think they also have some early interviews in Jan? Can anyone confirm?

Also, Cornell doesn't do interviews. If I'd saved my rejection letter I could tell you when they sent those last year!

I think I remember someone in the admissions office from Tufts saying that they are doing one batch of early interviews in Nov/Dec (this seems VERY early considering their deadline is Nov 1, so I might be remembering incorrectly), and then yes, the rest in February I believe. Also the early interview date isn't for people more likely to get in, I think it is just a random batch to try to space things out for them.

And for those of you with too much time on your hands... some threads I have been known to read in the last few days while gearing up for the waiting period...

Last year's interview invites thread
http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=670371

Last year's acceptance thread
http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=679083

Last year's alternate thread
http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=689482

And for completeness, last year's rejection thread
http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=686319

I know previous year patterns shouldn't be counted on, but the may give us some idea!

I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I have been looking at these lately, but I figured some of you would understand!

Last year they were just about the last to interview and the last to notify. Enjoy the wait!

Haha, I think UTK and UF were around the same time, if my memory serves me right..but yeah, one of the last. Best to try not to worry about it now - I know it's hard, but we all made it through and so will you!

HA! I'm right there with you, G2D. I've been checking those threads out too. Helps keep me from studying O Chem II. Altho' I did finally finish the chapter, and now I feel like my brain has been run over by a truck.

I've started a Word doc with all the info I can find on SDN for the 6 schools I applied to. I copied and pasted all the Pros/Cons lists for each of my schools, so when I get all of those acceptances....ahem..cough...yeah, right....I can quickly review everything that current students have said about each school to help me with my decision. And I included a general timeline of when last year's people heard about interviews/rejections/acceptances/etc. from each of those schools.

As people have mentioned, some of these schools say they may not notify you until late March/April 1st. If you have to make your decision by April 15th, that doesn't give you much time...certainly not enough to quickly fly to each school (that didn't do interviews) to check out the facilities. So, I'm hoping my continually growing Word doc will help me narrow down my choices after I get all those awesome acceptances that I'm sure to get....ahem..cough..excuse me, I must have something caught in my throat. :whoa:

I just got an email from minnesota with a timeline:

Application Review Timeline
Complete applications will be reviewed in October through December. You will receive an e-mail with an application status update in early January. This e-mail will inform you if you are eligible for an interview, or if your application is no longer under consideration. Offers of admission will be sent by first-class mail after all interviews are complete, typically in late February.

And if your phone gets e-mails, every time it makes any kind of noise, you and your heart rate will jump.

Exactly. My phone does get emails and everytime I unsilence it from class I see the little Gmail logo at the top and I'm all AH. Especially after CSU's burn - I'm expecting early rejections now  Overall, though, I'm hoping my life keeps me busy enough that I wake up one morning and its December and interview invites are being sent. Felt like that's how fast time went by between opening of VMCAS and submission date!

Did anyone else look at the interview invite thread and freak out? My roommates are going to take my computer away from me before this is over!

I freaked out a little, but I'm also excited! I'd like to know either way tomorrow, if possible -- the sooner the better!

Well, gosh, I hope WSU lets me know about the February interview before March 30. Otherwise, I'll have to call them in April to ask them how it went! 😛

sorry, I put that in backwards order. I think you notified about 3-4 weeks before the interview, and March 30th is when you'll know, after the interview, whether you've been accepted, waitlisted, or denied

The fact that notifications can be sent on April 1 gives this school the incredible ability to make some terrible, terrible April Fool's jokes.

They usually say they'll send them out in March, but last year they were sent out in late February... thank goodness.

"JK! You're not in vet school! LOLOLOL!"

Oh, it has happened before. TN accidentally accepted someone on SDN last year if I remember right, and they called to retract the acceptance. it may have been an interview not full acceptance, but still. NOT COOL

Haha this is a dangerous thread, getting my anticipation up! I'm sure I'll be staring at it come winter for the exact time frames to start panicking for each school! 😱

Reminds me of when UC San Diego accidentally sent acceptance letters to all applicants! The funny part was that they did this after sending out rejection letters earlier that month... I feel so bad for the applicants and the confusion they must have experienced.

"I'm sorry, but you didn't get in... Just kidding, welcome to UCSD!... Just kidding, you really didn't get in."

Pre-interview waiting is bad, post-interview waiting is worse. Especially when the previous class says that it took less than a week for them to get the decisions back.

Day 15: Do not speak to me, 😡 I'm busy checking the status page every 15 minutes.

I contacted VMRCVM and Ohio about when interviews take place. VMRCVM gave me the actual dates, but Ohio would not be more specific than "December."

I would GUESS that this year, interviews will be Dec 11-19, as that is the weekend and week after we finish final exams. Last year I believe they ran from Dec 12-20.

I know that, for my undergrad at least, this is during final exams (Ohio State is currently on a quarter system and therefore ends earlier than many other schools). That sucked, obviously, but what is nice about OSU is that when they send you your interview invite, they give you a link to a calendar and you can pick your interview day, even the interview time. It was very convenient, because I was able to choose a day that didn't interfere with my exam schedule (and was ironically my birthday, so maybe I had some birthday luck?).

Some advice for OSU applicants: keep in mind that there are two parts to the day. One half of the day will be your interview, and one half will be a sort of introduction/orientation/financial aid info/tour of the school session. If you can, try to schedule your interview time according to what will be best for you. I had my interview at 9:15AM and therefore had time between my interview and the afternoon session of information and tours to relax and change. For me personally, this was the best way to schedule the day. I didn't spend hours and hours sitting in the grand lounge, waiting for my interview and getting progressively more and more nervous. I got it over with and was able to actually enjoy the tour and informational session later on.

Thanks! That's surprisingly early, and although I'm not taking classes, my (third shift) work schedule is not easy to change around, especially right before the holidays. I appreciate being able to give my co-workers a little bit of a heads up for these possibilities, though!
