When do most HPSP participants take their two Step 2 exams? I've heard at the beginning of the 4th year. I would like to work the exams around my 2 rotations in September and October. What is the earliest or latest they can be taken? If we sign up early for the exams, we have to pay for them at that time. I assume we go ahead and submit a reimbursement when we sign up for the exams. I'm in the NAVY HPSP. Thanks!

you cannot takes the exams too early. go ahead and schedule them asap. you will not get reimbursed until you have documentation that you passed. hope that helps.

Agree, you should take them early. (September is a good month)

As soon as you can prove you have paid for boards, you can be reimbursed. If you fail, the next one is on you. (and the next, and the next)

Thanks for the great feedback. I'm not sure where I'll be in September or October for my 2 AT rotations. So it would be difficult to schedule and take the exams at that time. Would August or November be OK?

August is better. Then they are available for the Selection Board.

at least for air force you must take step 2 ck by Step 15. next year they will require step 2 cs by then as well. i did not need to show that i passed in order to be reimbursed, only that i paid for the tests.

For Navy also, you "must take step II by Sept 15", but if you don't nothing happens. I took it in July and would strongly recommend that. I hadn't taken some of the required clerkships and I was really nervous about that, but it didn't make a difference in the end I don't think. also, sign up for step II CS WAAAYYY in advance. Dates fill up fast.
