Hi,

I already e-submitted my AADSAS application (on May 16th) and got my GPA verified on May 23rd. I am hoping that my application will be sent in the 1st batch of mailing.

Yet, I am still studying for DAT. Since it takes 3-4 weeks for DAT scores to be sent to dental schools and since AADSAS still hasn't mailed applications to dental schools, I'm trying to find an optimal day to write DAT and still be considered as an early applicant. I don't want dental schools to hold onto my AADSAS application b/c my DAT scores aren't there. Yet, I also don't want to rush my DAT.

Is 1st week of July too late? Should I write my DAT in 3rd or 4th week of June? I am really confused about the timing of this whole process. Any comments would be greatly appreciated 🙂 Thanx in advance!!

I'm in the same boat as you. I'll be taking my DAT early July as well. I know someone who used to be on the UCLA admissions board for dental school and he told me we should be fine 🙂 He told me a lot more but to make a long story short I'd take that extra week to study and get the scores...afterall, application deadlines aren't until September for the earliest schools anyways. yea I know the early bird gets the worm but maybe that extra week is the difference between a 21 and a 23 ya know? good luck with your DAT!🙂

I am having the same anxiety at the moment as well. I am filling out the AADSAS as we speak and I want to get it in as soon as possible but I am taking my DAT mid July. I wanted to aim for a little earlier but everyone's been telling me to take the time and do well rather than rush it. My other concern is that if I have to retake it, I can't do that until October since you have to wait 90 days. How do you think that would effect my chances for 2008 enrollment?😕

i'm in the same boat too guys. I haven't even started my apps yet though because I'm focusing on the DAT which I plan to take last week june/first week of july. I wanted to take it earlier but realized a week or two more of studying will pay off for me more because I really need it after seeing my first test scores. GOOD LUCK studying and on the apps though! nice to know i'm not the only one going through all of this 🙂

I'm did the opposite of you guys. I spent forever filling out that application and turned it in on May 30 and it is taking forever to get all of my LOR to be sent and all that. But now I'm done with that, and I am starting to hardcore study. I scheduled the DAT for July 12, but I'm scared that if I don't do as well on it I will have to retake it in Oct and I'll be screwed.

Is it worth waiting longer to take it the first time, or should I allow room to retake it??

Thanks!
