I plan on getting into residency in 2005 but I have not taken any one of the three exams(step 1, step 2 CK, CS) yet. What would be the latest time for me to finish all the exams without missing the match? Any input is appreciated.

As a 2004 applicant, my advice would be to get them all completed and official by September, at the latest. If you need a VISA- throw step 3 into that mix...

wiseguy,

do you mean get your scores back by September as well or have taken the exams and can wait for the scores?

Hi guys,

I'm a 2005'er, myself. I think I'll take my Step 2 CS in July and Step 2 CK in late september. Late september is probably a little, well, late but I can't fit it in anywhere else.

Man, that seems like it's coming up soon. Are y'all getting nervous about the whole application process? I certainly am.

i am getting nervous, and i am a 2006 match hopeful.

but, as an international, we have to work on the timing. basically, i want a complete application by the earliest date, which is in sept 2005. that means between now and then i have to get some good US clinical experience, write step 2 (both parts), gather LOR's and attend school here in the CR from Oct.-June. basically i have this summer, next christmas and the following summer....

well, i could also just be a bit anal....nah, not me!😛

it is BEST to get everything done and official- meaning graded- by September (preferably early). This includes Step 3 if you want an H1 visa. Believe me, PD's look upon a candidate who has completed his/her exams much more favorably...
