Hi all, my exam is in June. I am practicing few exams from Cliff's, Barrons and now Kaplans.

I have not been able to complete all the questions in given time. It's like .62sec per question which for me is good for English, Biology and Verbal, but NOT for Chemistry and Math.

I need suggestions on how to approach this for Chem and Mth part.

Also, in the info book, it says that there will be 48 question and 8 of them are experimental, that means, we would be graded for the remaining 40 instead of 48 right or the percentage will be taken from 48 itself?
Please share your knowledge.

Thnx

Experimental questions and essays do not count for or against you.

If you do not have issues with the math and chemistry material and you just have a timing issue, then you could get some textbooks and practice doing the problems as fast as you can. Set a goal and raise that goal every time you reach it. Good texts will also have some quick strategies to get through problems

One time waster is the writing down off all your work neatly. You simply do not have the time to do that. That is one school-trained thing to get over.

I"m having problem also with speed

I just took a 30 self timed test with 50 problems, I got 28 right out of 32 I did but I also didn't finish the other 18 problems >=(. This was for verbal.

i jus did/tried to do a practice test...timing is an issue for me too! especially on the official harcourt test( if u haven't purchased it u should...it was an eyeopener) there's a lot of calculus on it! i guess i don't have a grasp on a lot of the stuff...i took calculus 3 years ago! so it just went over my head.

chemistry & bio wasn't so bad...but math wow( and i've always been good in math)!

Remember that one long-winded calculus problem is worth the same in points as the easy algebra plug-and-chug. I avoided the calculus problems I was unfamiliar with until the very end.

I had a huge problem with time also. What I did was decide which type of questions that I am not good at or spend too much time on. For the test, I just skipped those topics automatically. I meant to go back if I had time but I didn't have time so I had to guess on those. Math was the worst for me and the first time I took the PCAT I had 51% (didn't come close to finishing) the next time I used that strategy and I got around 80%. That is what I suggest.

Ya, time is the problem with everyone mostly. What I think I would do is like everyone said, I would most probably skip all the long looking problems and try to hammer in as many points as I can with the easy ones. Afterwards, if I have time I'd look at them and if I'm really lost on time I would fill in C's for the rest of the QU's. I heard thats done good for some people. 🙂
