Hey guys, I need some advice on the timing for the DAT. It just seems that no matter how many practice tests I take, I can never meet the timing requirements of the DAT, particularly for the science sections. I can usually do the Bio questions in a little under 30 minutes, but once I get to Gchem, I get behind by a few minutes, then when I hit the Ochem I get even more behind. By the time I'm done with everything, I'm at least 10 minutes behind schedule, taking a total of 100 minutes instead of 90 minutes. Note that I have only taken the Kaplan practice tests. I just don't know how I can do that many calculations in chem with the time given. Please tell me that the timing is just hard on the Kaplan/Achiever/Topscore tests (latter 2 of which I have yet to take) compared to the real DAT. Besides timing, my scores are pretty good, (24 Bio, 21Gchem, 20Ochem) in Kaplan. It's just that I can't fit in the time! Any advice?

Whassup Joe,
I find the calculations to be time consuming too, the best way to fly through them is by rounding off to simple yet realistic numbers and using scientific notation..this is your bread here man..Second do as many timed practice tests you can get your hands on.

Good luck
