Can someone tell me the approximate timing I should be completing passages in each section? I'm most familiar with CARS passage timing, and I usually alot 9 minutes per passage as there are 9 passages and 90 minutes. I'm unfamiliar with the timing of other sections though and would like to know so that I can start practice under timed conditions.

I would also like to know from past takers. As far as i know, it's 10 passages for each of the natural/social science sections with 15 discretes. So that'd be 15 mins for discretes and hence 80 mins for 10 passages (4-5 questions per passage); so 8 mins would be the max time to spend per average passage, but it'd be best to time to 7 mins or less. Can someone confirm?
Also, anyone doing the TPR tests, do they have it wrong in that there're 9 passages per section?

Here was my math. Other study guides like SNed just seemed like they suggest FAR to little time. Like have 15 minutes in the end kinda practice timing, which I feel could be harmful in the end. Here's my analysis. It includes both old and new timings. Remember, if you're using old material, practice with old times not new times. New material is allotted more time but is also said to be longer passages now.

Old Verbal
  • 60 minutes for 7 passages
  • You have about 8.5 min per passage
  • You should practice at 7.5 min per passage
New Verbal
  • There will be 2 extra passages
  • They will be longer
  • You will get 10 minutes per passage (90 minutes for 9 passages)
  • You should practice with 9 min if the material is new material
New Sciences
  • About 8 minutes per passage (10 passages, 80 minutes)
  • 1 minute per discrete (15 minutes for 15 discrete)
  • So practice new sciences at 7 minutes per passage
Old sciences
  • Less than 8 minutes per passage
  • You should be practicing with 7 per passage

Does this seem right to everyone?

As for getting the actual timing down, how are you guys doing it? I feel like when I got on pace for CARS, I sacrifice accuracy 🙁
