Hi everyone,

I am having trouble finishing the science and PAT sections on my practice test (Topscore and Achiever). While the Bio section is obviously not too time consuming, the chemistry section really slows me down with the setting up and solving of equations.....which causes me to rush through Ochem.

For those who have taken the actual DAT...how similar are the chem and ochem sections of the test compared to that of Topscore and Achiever?

Also, in the problems that show calculations for the answer choices....were they straight forward (meaning they plugged in the approperiate numbers right into the equation), or were they tricky (meaning the shown calculation is "distorted" to cause confusion and take up additional time)? I don't know if that made sense, but I would rather have to solve the problem and give a numerical answer as their calculations always confuse me (almost like another problem in itself!!).

Overall, I would really appreciate any advice/tips regarding the time factor of the test.....as well as comparisons between the practice tests (achiever and topscore) and the real DAT.

Thanks 🙂

I think you should practice more. If you don't know the answer but B (for an example) and mark it. There are lots of qs that you can answer them in 10 Sec. I marked about 16 of Science questions and I went back and review them twice. If you run out of time specially on OChem is realy bad, because it is the easiest part and loose the chance to get a good grade on it.
use 25 min for bio, 25 for GC and 25 for Oc.
My GC had lots of Cal (Maybe 2-4 set ups!!!) prepare yourself for that!!!
Good luck

I would definitely practice some more and get quicker. I had about 10 calculation and the bio is hard. Meaning that bio questions make u think and will eat up a lot of time.
