If youre emailing application updates to the schools your interested in I recommend you call them a few days after you send it. All the schools are getting bombarded with emails from applicants and yours may go unnoticed. So you will have to call them to make sure they are aware you sent an email and have added it to your file.
You will also get bonus points if you call and wait patiently (I was on hold for 20 min) for them to get the dean or someone on the admissions board to answer your call. If Im not mistaken I believe they are the only ones allowed to say anything about your application.
