If there's anything I've heard about applying to dental school, it's to apply early. Can anyway share some tips on how to apply early. Like when can aadsas start being filled out and things like that. thanks!

I hate to be snarky but you could have goggle'd this yourself. AADSAS opens June 3 for the Fall 2014 cycle.

this is true. that was a bad example i gave. i was hoping for more like insider tips that would probably be difficult to find on google but easy for the sdn community to share

Don't over think. Apply ASAP and things will work out. Just keep in mind they do not even start transcript matching (comparing what you entered on AADSAS to your official transcripts) until you click submit. This process can take up to several weeks. Also make sure whoever is writing and sending your LORs have sufficient time and will not be out for the summer before they send it.

Bottom line: As long as you click the submit button in June and have already taken your DAT and got your LOR stuff done you will be fine.

Go onto the ADEA website and preview the guidelines for the application. Write out your personal statement, you should have already asked for all your LORs so they can have time to write them, start listing all your extra curriculars, and maybe get a transcript for yourself so you can enter your courses. You don't need to have it done the first day, take a week to make sure everything is the way you want it, but as long as you submit within the first month you will be what I consider early.

To get your transcripts sent to schools you have to print out a sheet from ADEA and give it to your registrar at your university to get your transcripts sent to them right? Is there anyway to print this sheet out before june 3rd or no?

That's a no. It's basically a barcode that lets aadsas people match it to your account quickly and has instructions for your registrar for sending it. But you can print it off within minutes after starting your app and take it to your registrar. Then keep working on your app. It won't hurt if your transcripts get there before you click 'Submit' and curse the fees. But the certainly wont verify them until you submit. I suggest doing this in case Linda Sue at your registrar jacks something up and you don't notice until weeks later. Wanna see a matching form? PM your email address.

I guess you wouldn't be interested in Case's tips for applying early. We posted a link about it on our Facebook page and had it included in our Virtual Fair materials.
