Tips on choosing a clinical research lab

I'm looking to get into some clinical research this year. What are tips for choosing a good lab? There are so many amazing professors out there doing amazing clinical trials, I can't make heads or tails of the differences between them, at least on paper. (This sounds like a bad metaphor for AMCAS, but I digress...)
