So, if any of you are like me, you have certain quirky habits that have only worsened since you started med school. I thought it might be cool if we all posted our quirks/habits and, if we've found a way to stop them, our tips on how to do so! I'll start.

I bite my lips a lot. I do it when I'm nervous or intensely focused, like while studying. What works for me is to put on a layer of thick, sticky (unflavored!) lip gloss while I'm studying. Since it feels/tastes icky to bite through the gloss, I just don't do it!

Agree. I've gotten a little less type A since starting med school.

Which, for most of my classmates who say the same, is pretty relative.

Tip: STOP IT! STOP!

Yeah I was going to recommend gum or something to distract you. A good number 2 pencil in the mouth?

I'm definitely more type A now. I'm not as stressed as I was as a pre-med but I'm definitely hyper-aware at all times of how much time it takes me to do something. Like to the point where I get mad standing in line at the grocery store and go at strategic hours. It's bad.

I have this thing about cracking knuckles--fingers, back, neck, I crack 'em all, all day. This did not change when med school started 😳 .
