Hey, since we're talking about being sick of getting called a nurse....
I've always wanted to know whether other people have this problem. Ever since I first decided I wanted to be a doctor and went to interviews at med schools and so forth, I've noticed that people assume they know what I want to go into. And it's always pediatrics. Yes, apparently I look like a pediatrician. Is it because I am a girl? I don't know. That is why I am conducting this not-so-scientific survey, and if no one else answers, well I guess I am just alone in my pediatrician stereotypical look/personality or whatever.
It never fails, approximately 50% of the people who ask me:
"So, what field of medicine do you want to go into?" don't just leave it at that.
They inevitably tack on a guess at the end -
"So, what field of medicine do you want to go into, pediatrics?"
And I say, "Um, emergency medicine actually, I'm terrible with kids."
