How do you reason through a titration question that asks which molecule should you use, for example, should you use HCl or NaOh in order to correctly identify the solution that is being titrated? I'm not sure how to reason through question like these.

They're asking you how to identify a compound based on a titration? That doesn't make any sense. Are they asking you how to find the concentration of the titrand?

Yes, I made a mistake. How do you reason through a question like that?

Do they tell you what the titrand is?

Let me ask you this: What is the point of doing a titration? How does it work? Start by thinking about that for a sec.
