so i know this has been mentioned before, but i ran a search and came up empty. are you who are getting interviews all in state? do they have different processing timelines for in state and out of state? im just wondering so i dont get paranoid...

I think most are in-state. But I seem to remember at least one OOS for UT-SW... did you check the "Texas Interviews" thread?

Yeah, runningmom is correct. I checked the TX interview thread and DoubleU has interviews at Tech (lucky him 🙁) and UTSW.

What I did for my transcripts, since I knew transcripts get lost all the time, I sent new transcripts every 10 days until it showed they they received them. I ended up sending three transcripts from one of my schools. This is a crazy process so I figure I would just flood them with my transcripts. This is always such a problem for everyone. If you have not resent new transcripts then I think you should do it NOWWW!!!! Keep sending and sending. They are not going to stop and say, oh ok let me look through the 1000 transcripts we have just for yours. It is not going to work. Thanks for tip--I resent my two transcripts. My UT has been received but I'm still waiting on my ACC---which I believe is down the street from the TMDSAS office. haha. I have another question though.
How do you know when the TMDSAS is complete and has been sent out to the schools? Do they notify you or is it just when everything has been received on that page??

They will notify you my e-mail and it will say on the check your status page that your application has been submitted to the medical schools.
 
Also they'll confirm the completion of your primary application via snail.

Can we submit secondaries to the TX school before we are submitted?? Does it hurt?? Or do they need the TMDSAS before they will recognize you.

I submitted TAMU before I was verified. I think UTSW wants you to at least submit before you do their secondary though.

By submit do you mean just press submit but not be verified yet? I've done that, just waiting for my transcript from down the street to arrive 😛

Oh yeah - then you're good. All my secondaries were done before I was verified. :luck:
 
I'm new...I've been searching for a while...I have a couple questions ...sorry if they've already been answered...waiting to be verified is making me a little anxious to say the least...
I submitted in mid July and my certification was received a couple days later...I sent in my transcripts in May but they still show they haven't received them. I emailed them and was told to be patient...any suggestions? Should I resend them? Also, will TMDSAS send your applications to schools if they have not received your LOR? From their site, I don't think they do, but reading through here it looks like some of y'all have received interviews and the schools haven't received your LOR (UT-H, I think)? Also, will TMDSAS start the verification process before they receive all your LOR? Has anyone been verified that submitted mid July?? Just wondering...thanks for comments.

TMDSAS will verify and send out w/o LOR. Ut-H and UTMB will interview w/o LOR.

I submitted on 7/17. I haven't been verified yet. From the threads, it seems like the average timeline for verification was something like 13 - 15 days, but it's probably a bit longer now.

Nope, I think I'm going to wait until Monday (three weeks after submission). It's also sort of odd that the documents received page says that they received my certification/$/photos on the 16th, even though I didn't send them until the 17th...I hope that's not complicating things over there somehow.

Are you going to call earlier?

I would give them at least another week...

I submitted mine on June 19 and it didn't get verified until July 12! They didn't receive my check until June 26 so maybe they wait until they receive your money before they put you in the pile to be verified.

But yeah, be patient and give it another week.

They definitely wait until they receive your check to put your application in the pile.
 
Y'all, I just submitted my TMDSAS primary! I finally got it just right. Time to get cracking on those secondaries.

Thanks for the input. I just got an e-mail (at 11:50PM) that my application was processed today.

So submitted 7/17, all supporting material in by 7/18 (cert. page, check, photo, transcripts), and processed 8/02. here we go!

I was processed yesterday, too! I submitted mid July and certification was received then, too. 🙂
 
I was looking on my Tech status page of what I have in and what is missing...does anyone know what "TMDSAS Medicine Signature Page" is??

I think it's something that TMDSAS sends to Tech once you get verified...

By "verified" do you mean that TMDSAS verifies that my transcripts match up to my course work page once I get an interview? Or all my supporting documents are in?

Sorry, by verified I meant when your app is processed to schools, it's something they send and I believe it takes Tech some time to acknowledge that they received it. Hope it helps!

If we're taking classes during this next school year and we didn't list them on TMDSAS, are we to notify TMDSAS and/or the individual schools of this addition? If so, how do we go about doing this?
 
How long did it take for TMDSAS to aknowledge reception of your LORs after the LORs were mailed out from your college's health committee?

It's been about a week and UT Austin is like 10 min. from TMDSAS's office...

For me it was one day (i.e. sent out one day, and they showed up as received the next day.) That was back in June, however, so things might be backed up now.
 
started looking into tmdmas, but why do they count B+ as 3.0? In my school, it is a 3.5.... In percentiles, getting a 88% would result in a A- in one of the schools, but it would results in a B+ in my school. I am pretty sure this was already discussed, but this system is not really fair because it makes people whose schools use A-'s as 3.7 be in a much better advantage than people from schools where B+ is 3.5.... Do texas schools have A- grading system so they put a population automatically in advantage or what? Looks like I have a lot of B+'s so I doubt my TMDMAS app will look that great.
 
UT doesn't have a +/- grading system. Not sure about the other Texas schools, but I'm guessing that they don't either. For me, it seems fair that TMDSAS does this, because those of us that went to UT got Bs (not B+s) for <= 89 in a class. There was no "partial credit" in the form of a B+. Of course the flip side is that everyone who got >= 90 received an A, not an A-.

Not sure what else to tell you.....I can see both sides of the issue.

There are no + and - in TMDSAS. A B+ is a B, which is a 3.0... an A- is an A, which is a 4.0.

There is no fair system of comparing grades from different schools and different majors. There will always be unique factors. That's why they use the MCAT to help equalize a little. And they use essays. And LORs.

If your big worry is between B+s and A-s, you aren't in a world of hurt. Also, beware of "it's not fair" because it's tough to say without sounding whiny or juvenile.

Edit: OK, my first version was a little harsh. I'm cranky tonight. We can all lose perspective during the admissions process. I actually found myself worrying after LizzyM posted about how too many women wear black suits, on account I had a black suit! Trust me when I tell you, you have lost perspective on this issue.
 
Pemb: Don't worry. You're going to do great this season. You'll end up getting multiple acceptances and have to stress about picking one, black suit or not. 😉

All I meant to say if you get 88% in a class... in one school that results in a A- (3.7 GPA points), in another school it is a B+ (3.5 points). So for the same class A- person will get an A and a B+ person gets a B.... 0.2GPA separation becomes a whole point separation. I do not see how this is fair one bit. I is almost like they are comparing apples to oranges the hard way. They are converting oranges to apples, meanwhile apples are still the apples.
I think AMCAS is so much more fair in this because they follow your school grading system. So at the end the grades of most of the applicants are normalized.
 
Question 5b on the A&M Secondary asks us to describe the area in which we live: health professions shortage area, medically underserved, low income, or other. Well, mine's "other," and I have to specify. I grew up in a pretty wealthy neighborhood in Houston, which also happens to have the TMC, but I don't really feel comfortable putting that down. So how to do I go about this question since I can't leave it blank?

I put something along the lines of "upper middle class area with easy access to the TMC"

I was suprised that the A&M secondary had only those categories listed

All right, thanks. I was sure what to put and not come off as sounding like some sheltered snob.

Maybe they're targeting students who fit into those categories?

Yeah, I hear you, but I decided that I needed to tell them that I couldn't use any of those categories. They're almost certainly targeting those students, but the way they've written the secondary, you'd think virtually all communities in TX shared those characteristics!
 
If I list I am taking summer classes at a community college on TMDSAS, are they going to wait until they receive my transcript from them to process my application (considering they have already received my transcript from my primary college with my Spring 07 grades) ? I am concerned becasue my grades are not out yet, and could be about 2 more weeks?

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure they only need spring 07 for it to be complete.
 
Anyone's master file update date keep changing? I log in every once in a while and lately I've noticed that my date has changed a few times... I was processed and sent to school mid June and they are not waiting on anything from me, nor have I sent them anything. Any suggestions on why their "updating" my application?
