Anecdotal evidence would place UTSA and Baylor with about the same attrition rate and it unlikely that UTDB is any different; one would be hard pressed to find any ds in the country admit to a high rate of attrition.

I don't know the attrition rates for Baylor and UTHSCSA (Not UTSA), but for UTDB I know that the current 4th year class has 77 of the original 84. Of the 7 people who are no longer there 1 transferred to Baylor, 1 was murdered, 1 withdrew and rolled to the 3rd year class for personal reasons, 1 (myself) had to rollbak to the current 3rd year class for medical reasons, 1 with drew from dental school and 2 were given the choice of starting over or be let go from dental school. The current 3rd year class has 81 of the original 84. 2 withdrew and 1 with rolll back to the current 2nd year class because of personal reasons.

ya guys I already had my Baylor interview a few weeks ago.

Don't worry it's really fun and Dr. Miller and the interviewers are really nice!

I had a blast touring the school and seeing the facilities.

Your numbers are not atypical and do show a great deal of variation in attrition rate from year to year although year 3 class is still young. The ~ 10% attrition rate for your class is not likely to be acknowledged by any school around the country in any official publication.

Is this just for those that got interviewed?

I haven't received one interview invite yet...does this mean i ave no shot? or do schools go through the "top dogs" first, then whatever is left, i would get my shot?

It doesn't mean you have no shot, but you need a pre-dec interview for a dec 1st acceptance. Other interviews and acceptances will be granted. However, if you're holding your breath for Baylor, you're running out of time. Supposedly they fill their class with first round acceptances.
 
do you guys know if SA is sending out snail mail letters of acceptances this year or by e-mail?
 
Talked to baylor today and been told that they are done with theire Pre-Dec interviews 🙁

does anyone know about Baylor? do they send snail mail or emails of acceptances?


i cannot believe that Baylor is done giving pre-dec interviers, but just because you did not receive a pre-dec interview does not mean you cannot be accepted into Baylor.


the waiting period is killing me ................. ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

Based off of last year's TMDSAS thread, it looks like Baylor sent out emails at 12:30AM on December 1st. If anyone has any updated information, (as in they've spoken with Baylor this year) let us know...

Again, Dr. Miller told me that they practically fill their class with pre-dec interviewees. Meaning that there's not a great chance you'll be accepted after Dec. 1st and I would imagine an even worse chance if you don't have a pre-dec interview. Having said that, I do know someone accepted to Baylor off the waitlist.

my friend got his acceptance in mid July! his interview was sometimes in September. last year was different, they interviewed till January.

Hey everyone, been reading this thread for sometime now. I had a question and was wondering if somebody may know the answer. I received an invite post-dec for baylor and Im just curious if they have a good amount of seats open after the 1st rd of acceptance on dec. 1st? Im hoping so, but I have no idea what to expect.

I know that UTDB apparently will have seats open as they will be interviewing thru Feb or at least thas what someone said in the UTDB forum. I havent heard back from houston so that is why im asking about Baylor? thanks.

In my interview at Baylor I saw the guy that was in my San antonio interview last year(he is D1 at Baylor now). I remember he told me he already had interview at Baylor in December( my interview was Jan 12th at San Antonio), A friend of mine got his Baylor acceptance in July. Baylor fills up most of their seats by December 1th but not all of them. There is hope actualy always there is hope! If you got invited for Interview, there is hope! good luck 👍
 
16 more days till December 1st!!! i'm getting nervous now...being wait-listed last year was a real bummer...HOPE EVERYBODY GETS ACCEPTED THIS YEAR!!! 🙂
 
UTHSCSA- Interview tommorrow!

Any final advice from people who have already interviewed? Its my first interview and I'm worried about tensing up.

Me too!! Except my teacher decided to move our Biochem test to the morning of Dec. 1st. I have a feeling I won't get any studying done that night due to anxiousness.
 
Hey guys, so if I made a C on a history class I took over this summer, and I haven't sent TMDSAS the updated transcript reflecting my summer 09 grades, can I send the update after december 1st? Because I just received an email from TMDSAS asking me to send them an updated transcript. It says that if I were to be accepted to dental school, I will not be allowed to matriculate until they have validated my transcript. Therefore, does that mean that I can technically send it to them after december 1st?
I just don't want the schools to see the C until they have already made their decision of my acceptance first. =P

Well if I were a school, I wouldn't accept you until you had submitted all your transcripts. But probably lucky for you, I'm not a school. Either way, your idea is lame. All the rest of us have had to submit all our transcripts, not pick and choose which ones we want to send before dec. 1.

I would send it, they've probably already made a decision on you anyway.
 
I know two years ago SA posted a list of names (~120) outside the admissions/financial aid office for the school on Dec. 1, but last year they didn't do this until January. I was wondering if anyone knows if they're going to post the list Dec. 1 this year?

Hey guys, wanna to tell everyone good luck with everything! I wouldn't sweat the post dec 1st interviews with Baylor. I was in the hunt late last year and many of my friends received acceptances May-July.

People on here and even the Baylor offices told me their classes were filled by Jan/Feb. If my memory serves me correct - San Ant also told me the same in Feb. I think there's a lot of faulty information about seats (due to musical chairs). So relax!

so do schools only email the people that have been accepted dec 1st? if you don't hear from a school you've interviewed at, does that mean it's a rejection?

I wouldn't say it's a rejection until you get a rejection letter.

Baylor sends out acceptances on Dec. 1st and then Waitlists in March/April. I think most of their rejections go out in February/March.
 
so no emails from houston tonight? i heard someone mention something about snail mail.. anyone know for sure?
 
I think I read somewhere some folks got emails around 7:45 AM from Houston last year. Not sure if I will stay up =/ Might set my alarm to get up early
