Danny289 & Alanan84, I remember you guys from last year and I hope the best for yall...it really sucks waiting on your dreams but i have learned that being patient is a real life lesson..

at least you know that you want to pursue dentistry at the age you currently are..there are many older people in their late 30's and 40's changing their careers..don't be one of them..continue in the same path and be diligent..if not this year...next year...don't give up on the dream!!

I say stick it through and work hard to maintain a strong application..congrats on your interviewing at Baylor as I have not had the opportunity..this cycle has yet to be over..keep your heads up and mind set on the goal..you still have a chance!! 👍
 
Is anybody going to try calling UTHSCSA to see if they can find out early? Otherwise it's going to be another couple days of waiting...

I don't know but I don't see why they wouldn't send them all out at the same time.

I was reading on last year's thread that they forgot to send someone an email, and that person later received an acceptance letter through the mail.

Who knows, maybe that somehow happened to all of us? lol I'm still hoping. :xf:

They told me to stay in school. Take more upper level bio courses.

You're right, the thing is I definitely thought my Baylor interview went better than SA. Lol. So who knows what'll happen. Keep your chin up though, I don't think it's over.

And longhorns, I do hope so. It's a long shot but it's still a possibility right? :laugh:

The email was sent at 8:32 for those who are wondering. It pretty much just says to expect something in the mail. Good luck everyone!

OMG!!! Received a letter from Sofia Montes w/ "No Subject" heading...UTHSC-SA...its a dream come true guys...i still can't believe it..by the way, i thought my houston interview went a lot better since i only had 10 minutes to interview at San Antonio (dental student guide had no idea where the interviewer's room was located)..

who knows?!?! Congrats to all that received acceptances and I wish the best of luck to those still waiting..

as for me, i've be devirginized by San Antonio!!! :luck:

alanan, looks like we're in the same spot. Not really sure on what to do after I graduate in the spring either. I feel that my gpa is the reason I did not get in and i'm not sure if this 1 year is really going to do any good in bringing it up.

don't worry, san antonio still has seats available into late Feb, early March..at least that was my experience last year when others were accepted while i was waitlisted...

3.7 GPA, 19/19/20 with a 16 in Ochem. Should I retake the DAT.
 
Does anyone know how waitlist works? Do you tell you if you are waitlisted or rejected? When do they send those things?

i would say yes...even though you averaged a 19 for TS, all sections should be above 18 in order to be competitive...i'm not saying you wan't get accepted, but why risk a year of waiting and questioning the 16 in Ochem, when you can study more and retake in order to solidify your application as a whole. Lots of EC, Experience, and Community service is a MUST!

Being waitlisted last year, I can tell you that its no fun...for SA and Houston, waitlist is ranked i believe...they don't tell you a specific number and they told me that they re-review your application once an acceptance has been declined..good luck!
 
Has anyone gotten a phone call from UTHSCSA? I missed a call and got a voicemail. I called back but the person who called (Dr. Segura) wasn't in so I'm waiting to hear again. I already got an acceptance email this morning. Hopefully they're not taking it away from me :scared:
 
I wish there was a better matching system for dschools. My friend wants Baylor and I want uthscsa. If only we could swap...=/

so i am sure you got money too!!!! 😍
 
Wtf. I have 3.61/3.62 GPAs, 22/22/22 on the DAT with no section below 20. Plenty of ECs, interviewed in August at SA and Houston and have heard nothing. Baylor didn't even interview me. I don't understand...

Awesome! I kind of thought that's what it might be but I didn't want to get my hopes up haha. Still waiting for the call back...
 
Just got the call back. It was just to let me know I was accepted so I guess everyone should be getting calls too (unless I was supposed to get a scholarship but they gave it to someone else when I missed the call which I doubt happened).

your stats are definitely money..i would re-examine your interview skills or personal statement since your GPA and DAT are excellent...Do you have lots of Community Service and Shadowing hours? Baylor looks for lots of upper-division sciences..

i'm guessing so since one person reported an acceptance to Houston...it seems rather odd, but i guess we'll have to wait for the second round of acceptances in January
 
Do they send letter telling you if you are rejected or waitlisted? How about Baylor?

Got a phone call at 10:48 from Dr. Segura and also got home and checked my email to see that same email from Sofia Montes at 8:31, like everyone else. So happy!!!😀🙂 Congrats to everyone who has been accepted and to everyone still waiting I'm wishing you the best and good luck :luck:

my dream is still just a dream.... nothing from SA. this was my third try. :scared: i think its my gpa. This sucks.
