Very strange. Earlier this morning I received an email from [email protected] asking me to send a secondary application (attached detailed word document in classic secondary app format; tons of questions already asked in the aadsas app). It also asked for a 45$ secondary fee. Is this a scam? The bottom of the email was signed uthscsa admissions registrar. I'm curious if anyone else has received a similar email. I'm going to call the school tomorrow to see what the deal is

Oh sorry, I thought you were in-state. I guess it's different for OOS.
 
Kind of old news but..

TMDSAS transmitted email 8/19:]

Baylor received application email 8/19 - 30 minutes later... pretty fast

will be waiting for SA and Hou
 
my TMDSAS status under the schools still says transmitted to schools (7/18)

does that mean that they have received them? i havnt gotten the confirmation emails yet

I believe it means that TMDSAS has send them an electronic version, and has mailed off a paper copy in the mail. And I think that schools typically wait for the hard copy to arrive to review it. My status said transmitted for a bit (week or so?) before I actually got verification from the schools saying that they'd received my app. Don't worry, they'll receive it.
 
Hey guys,
Can anyone give me a timeline of of yalls application from payment received to when it was transmitted to schools? I know it takes awhile but I'm getting uneasy here...I was hoping for this week but my status still says 'processing'. My payment was received august 1 and all my other materials have also been received. They simply haven't calculated my gpa....the last update was august 4th. Anyone have any details???
I am a texas resident by the way....
 
You should expect to wait at least 6 weeks. I submitted my app July 11 and it is STILL processing. TMDSAS is just slow.... 😡

Not to worry you, but my application was transmitted 7/23, and I received emails from Baylor/UTHSCSA on the 28th and 29th stating that they've received my application. You may want to call and make sure that your correct email is on file if you haven't at least received your verification emails.
 
I have an interview with UTDB on Aug 30th, I got the email around 5p on 8-19-10. I am a re-appilcant, and was waitlisted last year with UTDB. I believe my application was processed/sent on Aug 5th. Even though I am not sure when houston received my application (because I never got a confirmation email), I must have gotten the offer about 10 days after they received it (in reference to when Baylor and SA confirmed receiving my apps).

Hope that helps any of you out there.
 
God, all these interview invites are making me nervous. I wish I had my DAT done! Good luck to everyone with their interviews!

Hahaha. It is probably because I was suppose to take the test last year (without taking ochem), but decided not to. Well, it will soon be over...what will I do with all the free time? lol
 
So, I just had an interview with UTHSCSA and interviewer asked what I did after i submitted my application? I told him I have been shadowing 2 dentists for more than 2 months and 13/14 hours per week (almost 100+ more hours than what I had before) plus volunteering at hospital and He wrote down everything I said. But the shadowing part we talked about that I started after I submitted my application is not on the actually TMDSAS application and I could not edit it either after submitting . So, will they consider all these (whatever I said to my interviewer and whatever he wrote down about me) as part of application when they start accepting students whenever? OR do they just look at things I had on my application on TMDSAS?

Who knows? I wouldn't worry about it. If they invited you for an interview that means you had the qualifications that they're looking for. A couple of months of shadowing isn't going to make a huge difference in the overall picture. I have classmates that have no significant experience in the dental field other than the minimal amount of hours shadowing that was asked for them to do.

I personally don't understand what's 100 or more hours of shadowing will do for a person. I mean, you can watch a filling get done so many times. I am applying having only done 60 or so hours of shadowing. I am planning to get certified as a RDA, so I can actually do a little more before starting dental school (if I get in).
 
Finally got my first interview at Baylor! So relieved... here I was thinking my app was late hehe
 
I just received interview offer from UTDB at Houston today for August 30. Don't Texas dental schools notify you at least two weeks in advance for the interview?

I guess not...mine was on 16th august and I found out on 9th August. Well Good Luck.

My application was transmitted on 6/24 and received interview offer yesterday for Aug 30

Thanks. I rescheduled my interview with Houston because it was on the same day with San Antonio. I'm still waiting for them to give me the new date. Does rescheduling make my application looks bad?

You can learn to assist without getting certified if you work in an office willing to teach you. It's not too hard to do.

Well I am hoping not. I had the same issue.. SA and Houston conflict. But I asked to reschedule with San Antonio since I already confirmed Houston's interview.

I had an issue with San Antonio last year and I almost lost my interview with them. I called them to reschedule because the interview date that was given to me conflicted with previously scheduled event and they basically told me they will try to reschedule but it was not guaranteed that I will receive another date.

I believe that Texas schools don't send out rejection letter until they stop interviewing
 
Just got Baylor invite for 3rd week of Sept
 
Just a heads up for San Antonio interviewees...

Your interviewers do not have access to your GPA/DAT scores. Dr. Segura said they only have access to your essay? But I'm guessing by that she meant your entire application besides your scores.

Sorry if that's old news!
 
I just took the DAT today! I am glad it is finally over with. Any idea on how long it might take the schools to receive my scores and evaluate my application before sending an invite? TMDSAS already sent out my application to the schools back in July.

Congrats, saw ur breakdown on the DAT forum. you killed it!!! 23 AA, 24 TS!

I took mine 6/10, and it was received on 6/30.
 
Thanks! and thanks for the information. I guess I will just have to wait it out and hope that I get an interview prior to Dec 1st.

Per my experience last cycle: Baylor will notify you if you are denied before interview most likely by December. San Antonio sent out rejections (after I've interviewed with them) in June '10.
 
i have been invited to interview with ut san antonio on 8/30 and baylor in september. still waiting on ut houston.

Actually you re right...I have just been asked to work as assistant (real job) by the dentist after shadowing/assisting her for 3 months 🙂
 
This might sound a little ignorant, but I was wondering if someone could give me a general breakdown about each of the Texas schools? (like, one school is all about the research, etc.) I tried to research about their mission statements, etc. but they all kind of sounded the same to me and I see that different people already know where they want to go. I was just curious as to why you want to go to a particular school.

Anybody get any TX invites lately? I'm crossing my fingers everyday when I check my e-mail and house mail hoping there's a letter from any of the three schools lol
 
No word, but the only school that has my DAT score is Baylor. Not sure how long it will take them to review my application, but I sent it in a while ago (mid June I think). They got my DAT score on the 27th through fax.
 
Quick question. On TMDSAS, under your letter of rec's received date, status date, upload; does it have something like 09/01/2010 Jane Doe. There is a name there that is not my evaluator, someone from my school, or me. Just wondering.
