***TMDSAS 2016***

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I just saw that interviews start around August (for this thread). Is this when they usually start? I am hoping to volunteer abroad for about 3-4 months after graduation so I am trying to figure out if it would be possible.

Yes, the earliest is August, or when fall classes start again.

Speaking of Baylor... They've been very quiet lately....
I feel like they're pretty much done, but that's just an assumption.

Going to be weird going from SDN posters to real life acquaintances. Even though I won't be a classmate, I'm sure we'll all meet at some point. In the meantime, gotta find housing!

Did they even send out a second round?
Yeah! I'll try to be as awkward as possible and i'll make sure to introduce myself as Advance🤣.
Yeah I've been looking into housing too... Ambrose seems nice and it's close....

They won't be giving out a second round until the end of April. They had a pretty high first round acceptance rate this year :/

Does anyone know the second deposit day for Texas schools? And about how many spots open up per school?

Can someone else also please verify this?
"Starting April 1, dental schools report to ADEA AADSAS the names and identification numbers of candidates who have paid a deposit, hold a position in a dental school entering class, or both. After April 5, ADEA AADSAS reports to each institution the names of candidates for its entering class who hold acceptance(s) at additional institutions. A dental school may rescind an offer of admission to a candidate who has paid deposits to or holds positions at multiple institutions. If the dental school chooses to withdraw this candidate from the entering class, the dental school must give the candidate a minimum 15-day notice."

This was posted in the main thread yesterday.

Hey guys, I'm a bit freaked out right now. I just visited the TMDSAS website and now it says you are required to have THREE recommendation letter if you don't have a committee letter. It used to be TWO letters, with a third being optional (as many of you know). So, basically, wtf? Am I going to need to rush a third letter of rec now?

This is the predental thread. You might have better luck in the premed subforum.

Acceptance email April 5 from Houston!
Only school I strived to get in; only school I interviewed at; only school I got accepted into. Destiny works in such a beautiful way. Always keep that ray of hope for tomorrow, do not lose sight of it everyone.

CONGRATS!!! That's amazing! I also interviewed in November and it's the only school I interviewed at. I emailed Dr. Galindo about the status of the incoming class and she told me there the 2016 in coming class is almost full and an alternate list will be sent out in May. I'm hoping for the best. Again congrats on your acceptance and I hope to join you!

Any idea when financial aid "awards" start coming in? From filling out the FAFSA and all that fun stuff.

Yeah I was under the impression that they didn't kick in for awhile like a little after school starts up.

You dont get your financial aid until 2 weeks after school starts.

Where are you guys getting this information? It doesn't make any sense. They can't expect you to live on nothing for 2 weeks as a full time student.

UTHSCSA's website says that they disburse financial aid appox 10 days prior to the first day of class.

Last year:
UTHSCSA's disbursement date was July 17th and classes started July 27th.
Baylor's disbursement date was August 7th and classes started August 17th.
UTSD's disbursement date was August 3rd and classes started August 10th. (Prpbably because Aug 1st was a Saturday, it was pushed to Monday Aug 3rd.)

Anyway, I believe EasTexan was referring to the finaid award info, not the actual funds. You find out your financial aid package before disbursement. You have to approve loan amounts and sign MPNs and all that.

I still don't have an answer though, wish I did.
