TMDSAS > AMCAS Application

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read somewhere on sdn that tmdsas is like matching to a residency, which ensures that most applicants get accepted.

Wait until February 1st, when TMDSAS tells you that you didn't match anywhere. Then you check an hour later, just as you've accepted that you weren't admitted anywhere, and you discover you actually matched to your first choice school! OR, you enter all your grades and expect TMDSAS to show your 3.8 GPA but the app messes up and shows you have a 3.2.

This stuff didn't actually happen to me (THANK GOODNESS), but it has been happening to many people. TMDSAS's new layout (its only the second year of it I think?) is very nice, but also very glitchy. Good thing they are helpful and quick to respond!!!

This is not right. There is a match, but it does not ensure that most applicants get accepted. Not as far as I know. I think it simplifies everything for schools and applicants since all schools are selecting out of the same or nearly the same applicant pool. I tried to research the exact purpose of the match but couldn't really find anything. FWIW, I have many friends with good stats who did not get accepted in Texas but did get accepted OOS.
