Hello all,

Let me tell you about myself, then to my question. I am 27 years old, married with an 18 mo. old son. I recently started back to college in Jan. 05. I had dropped at of school in 1997 and received 4 F's from not withdrawing. I retook those classes last semester and made all A's. From my understanding, these F's are factored in to my grades with the AADSAS and the TMDSAS (I'm from Texas).

I'm only a sophomore, so with straight A's all the way through college I'll have a 3.9 without the F's and a 3.4 or so with the F's.

My question is... do they include the F's in the calculation? Am I screwed if they do?

The long gap on my transcript shows that I took time to work etc... and came back to school strong. I'm highly motivated now and will do whatever it takes to get into Dental School. Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

Yes, TMDSAS will include ALL grades on your transcipt into your GPA calculation, even if you retook the course and made a higher grade they will calculate both grades for the course into your GPA. So those F's are there to stay, nothing you can do about it now except explain the situation on the appropriate part of the application. Your GPA is what it is now. Still, a 3.4 is not that bad, it's just slightly below average for the Texas schools.
