I have written an essay for the unique experience, but do you think I should write the personal characteristics? I know its good to fill them all out, but i dont want to bore them by making the ACOMM read so many times. Any advice?

This has been discussed a number of times. If you feel like you will "bore" them with what you have to write, I'm not sure I'd write it. If you have something legitimate to write that gives them a petter picture of who you are, then I'd write it.

Whatever makes your essay stronger you should write about it. Explaining from your experiences how you have grown/change for the good is also a great way to let them know who you are. If you have mentioned it in your personal statement, I would write a different experience that they are unaware of and tell them what you have learned from that. Given an additional 5000 characters to write about. You are trying to sell yourself to them. If you have nothing to say about yourself to them, they will question if you are worth the effort of training as a dentist. There are a lot of people out there telling their own stories. If your story is not as good as theirs, then you will probably lose out on the rare spots.

You've been talking about your app for a month now. Get that sucker submitted!

The best advice I can say is....write something that won't bore them! It can't hurt, and personally, I say it can help to include another essay that not only makes them think you're not lazy or something, but it will help you stick out from other applicants...

Dude, what are you waiting for? You are getting to the point where an early submission would have meant more than a great essay. I went through the same thing last cycle, not knowing what I wanted to write, wanting everything to be perfect. Big mistake. I'm telling you, hurry up. TMDSAS has been open since May 3. 3 whole months.

Not to mention that the longer you wait, the longer it takes TMDSAS to process and transmit your app to the schools.

I submitted my app mid/late May when spring grades were finalized and it took them less than 2 weeks to transmit to the schools. Now I'm hearing 5 to 6 weeks.

It's really not a joke when they say that submitting early legitimately helps your chances.

Mine from 6/21 took 5 weeks. I called into TMDSAS for something else, and they mentioned that as of now it is taking the 6 weeks to transmit.

I submitted mine the week it came out. It took two weeks.
