TMDSAS: secondaries?

I was going over my Texas app and saw the link for secondaries, in which we can get into it with our regular username. do we fill out secondaries as soon as we're finished with our regular app or do we wait for the schools to contact us? Anyone familiar with this process?

I personally went to Southwestern's website and their secondary app was timed...15 minutes. You just save to get more time, but it sure made me feel uncomfortable.

For Tech, A & M, and Southwestern, you should send your secondary in once you've submitted to TMDSAS. All three specify on their websites that you're supposed to submit the secondary at the same time as you submit your primary app.

Yes, definately start filling them out. Some of the secondaries take some time to do. It takes ~6 weeks for TMDSAS to process your application so use that time to work on the secondaries. If you have them all in by the time your primary application is processed, you may get interview invites very quickly. That's what I did and I started getting invites less than a week after my app was processed. Good luck

what texas schools are open to out of state students with below average stats (3.3 + 30)?

Unfortunately, Texas schools are not non-resident friendly; with each Texas Med School accepting on average only about 5-8% non Texas residents each application cycle.

Your best bet for Texas would be to apply to Baylor College of Medicine which accepts 20-30% non residents into their med school class. However, this will be difficult for you because their average numbers are 3.8 + 33.

You may have a shot, it depends on you ECs and work experience and all that other stuff that make up the application. It definitely wouldn't hurt to apply.

i checked a billion times and i only saw 2 essays and grade stuff for the SW secondary. just submitted it 2 days after submitting the TMDSAS.

question though: i noticed that A&M's questions are similar to SW's. would it be bad to recycle my SW essay?

1) I'm pretty sure that you have to at least submit TMDSAS first to do your secondary apps. I know that some of them on the intro page say that you shouldn't start them until you have finished and submitted your TMDSAS. All I did was submit mine before starting on the secondary apps, they didn't have my money or pics or sheet and whatnot.
2) Yes, SW's seconday has more essays (or bulleted thingie-majigs) on top of wanting you to restate your pre-req info.
