Anyone know pros/cons of accepting an offer from a Cal State school whose deadline is next week to hold my spot (they only gave me about 2 weeks to decide), when I am still waiting for hear back from 2 more programs around Februray (both programs that I prefer more due to cost/distance). I also have 1 interview for another program in mid-January. No deposit is required at this school that accepted me but if I accept while other schools are still deciding, does that take me out of the running? Any wisdom would be appreciated! Thanks.

Accept and Congratulations! To my knowledge, this will not take you out of the running for other schools!

which calstate? usually cal state is super cheap already!

It's very common during the application process to accept offers while still waiting for others - it's best to secure your seat while you play the waiting game. It doesn't "take you out the running" - it's a normal part of the process when dealing with multiple offers/waiting. You're VERY lucky this school doesn't have a deposit - that's usually what holds people back (some people have to fork over $1000 - nonrefundable - to secure a spot while waiting for more offers), so go ahead and accept!

Just be sure to follow up and decline when you get into one of your more favorable programs, so someone else gets that spot 🙂

Not since they transitioned to the DPT. The tuition and fees went up almost 300%. CSU's are still better than most state options and probably offer more needs-based grants though.

Accepting an offer will not mess up your chances at another school. This is very common....and you are VERY lucky it's not expensive to hold the spot. Many of us had to pay quite a bit of $$$ to hold a sport while we waited for our top choice school to wrap up the application process.
