To all of you without the cookie cutter stats

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just because someone has "good stats" does not make his or her story ANY less interesting. The unfortunate truth is that the majority of these "elites" busted their butts more than their fellow classmates.

The other unfortunate truth is that stats DO matter more than ANYTHING else. You can be the most caring person in the world with a 25 and NEVER get one interview. In fact, you most likely will not. Being a good doctor is MORE THAN BEING CARING or interesting or altruistic.

If you have bad stats (less than 27 or 3.5) WAIT AND APPLY LATER. Don't waste your money and throw it at AMCAS. Don't just go DO because you can't wait an extra year or two. Do what is necessary to become competitive.
All very good points. It seems the OP has some sort of problem with high-stat applicants. Also, I don't think the above average stats the OP is referring too are "cookie cutter;" I think that would refer to the average applicant's stats.

I'm pretty sure a 3.7+/33+ opens your doors regardless of your personality. Some schools will take 90th percentiles regardless, just how it works.

However, this doesn't mean that they won't get rejection from a majority, because they likely will. In fact, I'd wager most people get rejected by a majority of their applied-to schools.
