Is there anything that you wish you had known going into your first year of pharmacy school (either relating to or not related to pharmacy) or anything that you would have done differently during your first year?

Haha someone asked this same question last year. http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=71923

Hmm, I guess I would say that I really wouldn't have changed much. My attendance got much worse as the year wore on. Attendance isn't really that big of a deal if you can get the professors notes, and once you realize which classes are "skip-worthy". And now that I've found out it'll be practically impossible for me to get into Rho Chi, I kind of wished I had studied less! 😛 Try to attend as many social functions as you can. Pharmacy school is a lot of work, so it's important to be able to blow off steam with your classmates at happy hour.
Maybe I wish I would have joined a frat or been more involved with APhA. Since networking is a big component of getting that dream job.

It's so easy to find out which to skip from the class ahead of you. There are just some instructors that nobody seems to get anything from, yet they remain members of the faculty. And the evaulations that are done at the end of the quarter are a joke. Nothing seems to change even though everyone has the same complaints. It is amusing, though, to watch the attendance dwindle towards the end of the quarter.

I guess they don't get rid of instructors because instructors are in such demand these days.

I would have stayed in an apartment instead of buying a house 50 miles away from school.

I would have studied for my anatomy lab more during spring quarter.

I would have studied for the MedChem qualifying exam.

I would have gone to the meetings when they were in Seattle.

I would not have eaten so many yummy beer battered onion rings from the hospital cafeteria.

Onion rings are grody anyway! 😉 Blech. 😀
I would normally agree. But these ones were Walla Walla Sweets (mmmm) and the batter was sooooo nummy. Usually I eat the ring part and toss the onion. These ones I could eat the whole thing.

If anyone here is visiting UW I'll give you the tour and buy you onion rings!

I probably wouldve gone to the APHA MRM meeting so I could meet all the cool people from our region.

As hard as possible, stay away from caffeine. I got to drinking three venti chai teas a day, and then my body screamed at me that it didnt like that so much (got ill spring qtr)....

go to meetings!!!! (conferences) they're fun fun fun, and you meet so many interesting people and fellow students...

thats all i can think of right now

Isn't the biggest reason they don't get rid of the crappy proffs tenure?
