I used to do that all the time. It worked quite well. If I ran into any issues I would just call my colleagues in the ED and have them handle it. There is no reason we should be staying overtime just because some lazy doctor won't call back in a timely manner.

Turns out he was in our department seeing the 7 admissions he got from us pretty much all at once.
