I told AACOMAS I was going to take this anatomy class this Fall...Don't think it's going to happen because I have to work and can't afford it right now...

Ok, my Sci Gpa is a 2.9 (overall is a 3.5 and was a non-sci major), and my MCAT is a 23 (but just retook it on the 19th)...

Only wanted to do it to hit the 3.0 mark for my sci gpa...And wanted to have something *new* to "update" the schools with besides the MCAT...

Who thinks I'm being stupid not to take it? And if I don't take it, do I tell AACOMAS? Will this look bad to schools? (I'm a reapplicant)...
Applying to Western COMP,NYCOM, AZCOM, NOVA, and the two Touros...

i understand what you mean about hitting the 3.0 mark. it definitely has a better ring to it . but, in all honesty, i think it's just splitting hairs at this point (i could be wrong). i signed up for a full slew of EMT classes this fall (11 credits) and it wouldve boosted my overall from a 3.05 to like a 3.1 or something. however, i couldnt afford it at all and it conflicted with my work schedule (specifically, the work that pays for the class). point is, i dropped the classes AFTER i submitted to AACOMAS the primary, so my primary still has it on there for fall semester. whatever. i wouldnt sweat it too much.

If that subject is ever brought up, just be honest with them. I don't think they will care much.

You can't afford it so don't worry. You are not going to get accepted/rejected on classes you plan to take. better to not take a class you can't afford than to take it, then bust your azz making money, bust your azz trying to find time to study because you are working more, and then getting a B(won't help you get above 3.0) or lower.

No need to update AACOMAS on what you plan to take once you have submitted.

Yea, I realize a 3.0 and 2.9 sci gpa aren't that different...Although for what it's worth, my post-bac GPA is a 3.1, HOPEFULLY trends will matter. Still feel guilty for not taking the anatomy class, but if it's not realistic it's not realistic.
I've actually heard of some MD schools (namely UCLA) which discourage pre-meds from taking classes they will take in med school (i.e. anatomy). Is that for $$$ I wonder?

Just speculation, but they could want you to take their approach to specific courses. Undergraduate anatomy courses may take a different approach than medical school anatomy courses do...thus, it may be a controlling impulse to ensure the quality of your education. That would be my logic to back them up...

Just a thought that is not based on any solid foundation 😉
