got screwed over. No movement and classes have already started.🙁

Ya, I had only two waitlists. One seemed promising.

I see this as a good sign for the upcoming year. Yall give me your opinions, does this mean I am a very good candiate for being accepted next cycle? (My application has improved in the past year)

Anyone who has been in this position please give their experience.

Also, to those of you who were waitlisted and were not pulled off of the waitlist....

do you feel as though you can identify the weakness in your application? meaning, can you say, 'oh, that 26 mcat score really screwed me', or 'that 2.9 gpa and lack of volunteer experience explains it'?

To PMED99: Getting at least two interviews and two waitlists this cycle probably is a pretty good sign. Do you feel you've been able to make some improvements to your application this year? Also, now you probably have a better idea of the kinds of schools to apply to this cycle. Apply early though, if you haven't done so already! I was a deadline applicant last year which probably is part of the reason I got 5 waiting lists.

Ya, I got it off about a month and a half ago. Starting to get secondaries now. What is cool about it now is that I am on a first name basis with the schools I interviewed with. I got three interviews last cycle and two waitlists.

Also, I think I have improved my standing. Finished a degree, won a lot of awards both academic and out of class, completed about 8 hrs a week of volunteering, am now entered into grad school as a non-degree student.

But, on the flip side, MCAT did not change, since I did not take it the third time. (maybe a bad choice on my part). And my Gpa has stayed about the same, just better classes and a degree under my belt.

I dont know, maybe the others will be that push I can use to overcome the waitlist and get accepted.

Thanks for advice.

To Zin's question:

Ya, I called the schools that I was interviewed at and just asked them, "what is strong and weak about my application?" They are very open to this question. From there I asked about all my recs, interviews, and what I can do in the extra year.

The thoughts of what is wrong with my application run through my head constantly and are what I work on hardest, while my strengths I think about maintaining and less time.

Don't hide your weakness they dislike that. In interviews I admitted I had a lowish MCAT, but I also quickly mentioned my strengths and other accomplishments. Also, I was a reapplicant and focused on that in my personal statements/essays so that I SHOWED them how badly I wanted this that I would even apply a 3rd time if the current one did not work out (though it did).

I can tell you that it is even better for all reapplicants b/c sometimes when you think the news has sunk in you look back on past bad days/experiences and it makes you cry/smile again! 😀

P.S. Also talk to your closest advisor/mentor and try to go over all of your letters (a lot of times one little phrase can make a difference, so KNOW who is writing a good letter for you and who you THINK wrote you a good letter but did not....ASK!) You (like me the 1st time) may be surprised...😕
