I have a question for all you guys that are already students to this school. I am planning to apply for next cycle and I repeatedly heard about this carving test that we need to perform @ the interview. It seems that this is the only school that requires that. Could you please share your experience? What is this all about? How long it takes? And also how much weights for the entire process?
Thanks in advance and congratulation for everybody who made it! 😍

😕 😕 😕

There is not carving test at Arizona. I interviewed there in December and we had a dexterity test (kinda fun, don't worry!) and a group test (just to make sure you can work with others). Their interview is a little different in that they ask current event questions as well as dentistry related questions.

But there is no carcing test. I know that the canadian DAT has a carving section.

Good luck.

interviwed in Oct or Sep. and there is no carving test

Thanks everybody, I must have been misinformed. Could anybody be more specific regarding dexterity test?
😍

there is a reason Arizona blocked the interview feedback page, they want everybody have the same chance during the interview. This way we all do it for the first time during the interview. But don;t worry, I found it pretty fun,and they give you a chance to practice.

They just want to see you can work with your hands.

howui3 lets be honest. Did you or did you not ask for this same help? Now I suggest that you be a nice guy and PM our friend here with the answers to there questions. I underastand it's competition but we all need a little help.

Thanks hlfb80.
I just wanted some general info, and I don’t think it is any competition between me and someone who already got in. And plus there are so many factors in the application process that contribute to the final decision, besides the dexterity test.
Howui3 don’t be so worried that if you shared some of your experiences you would not get into Dental School.(But probably you already are in). I personally will share all my experiences, and I believe that if it is meant to be I’ll be a dentist some day.

Take the test and you'll find out. If you're that freaked out about it, dentistry may not be for you.

I am not in Arizona, but I am applying there this year.

I interviewed there in october. They have you sit in a room with about 8 other interviewees and they place a peg board in front of you. You then are given like 30 seconds to stick as many pegs in the holes as possible with your right, then your left, then alternating hands. Then they give you about 1 minute and ask you to do what they call an assembly. You take a peg with your left, then place a washer over the peg with you right. Then put a collar over the washer with your left, and then another washer over the collar with your right. It's easy, and yeah it is actually kind of fun. For the actual interview part, just go over many of the current events at the time of your interview. Other than that, there's not much else you can do to prepare for it.

Geez, who really cares? I think that AZ actually desires this for asking so many of us down for an interview and then rejecting us within the same month. What a waste of money!

If anyone has any questions about the AZ interview, PM me and I'll give you all of the information you'll need. Or... search the pre-dental forums for answers to 110% of your questions about this school.
