Hi! Please help/answer if you can and sorry if these questions are over-asked. I'm new to this forum and this is my first time making a thread. Any help is appreciated!

How do medical schools feel about lower tier state schools? Should I try to transfer to a higher tier state school such as UC Berkeley or UCLA? What GPA should I be maintaining in order to be a competitive applicant to top medical schools? Would I need to maintain a higher GPA at a lower tier school than if I transferred to a higher tier school? I understand that these questions may not have right answers and it's all circumstantial but your thoughts will help me! Thanks 🙂

If you go to IVY league for undergrad - it will help you. I don't think switching between state schools will be all that beneficial. Like the poster above said, your GPA will be way more important than your state school's name.

Basically, stay where you are, get A's, do well on the MCAT, show a little medicine interest, and you'll be fine.

I wouldn't transfer unless you are unhappy or have some other very strong reason to do so - wanting to be at a more "prestigious" school for the sole purpose of medical school admission doesn't qualify for this in my opinion.

Keep as high a GPA as possible, preferably 3.8+ and score highly on the MCAT and you'll be fine.
