I am currently 17 days away from my Step1. I did NBME 3 today and got 350. According to the table it correlates to a 190 in step 1.

I am not happy with this at all but can I improve significantly in 17 days or should I delay for another month?

Well that depends. Have you gone through FA and RR once at the very least. If not, then you have your answer.

If you have and still getting that score, it means you are lacking a lot of basic concept which will require time. I will suggest to take 4 extra weeks then to go over the material.

Hope that helps.

Thank you very much for your reply.

I have not finished first Aid yet, which I plan to revise 2 times before the exam.
I'm hoping the first aid helps me. I wrote the NBME knowing that I wasn't fully prepared yet but just wanted to see where I stood.

I will do another NBME 1 week before the exam (after finishing first aid and uworld 2 times). If I still score low, I will think of delaying.

whats your goal, if you want to pass, you will probabyl be okay in 17 days. if you want average, you may need a few extra weeks.

If you finish UWorld twice you're most likely going to pass, given that you've taken the time to read the explanations.

You can reschedule a week before and not pay any extra fees. I'd give yourself another week or so of hardcore studying. Take another practice exam and see where you stand.

Also, figure out exactly what your goals are a set a target score.
If you are shooting for something much higher than your latest practice test, don't expect a miracle increase in the last week.

I'd push it back if you are not where you want to be in another week or so.

Not to sound negative, but just think about getting your score back and it being well below where you would like. What would that mean for your residency match, etc. I have friends who got poor scores that probably could have been boosted with a little more time. Now they are essentially shut out from their desired fields. Just don't be that guy (or gal).

:luck:

yeah, it's better to take a little time extra rather than have regrets later
i'm giving it my all in the next week. if nbme score won't improve then i know what i have to do...thank you for your advice 🙂
