Hi all,

I've searched through a bazillion SDN forums (I know there are some similar ones) and various FAFSA and AAMC resources looking for a checklist for applying for financial aid and couldn't find it, so I tried to make my own To Do list/cheat sheet. How does this look to you all? Am I missing anything? I'm terrified I'll screw this up!

Whoa. It's a lot easier than this makes it look (unless you just filed bankruptcy or are waiting on your green card). Your med school's financial aid office should be emailing you with what you need to do, which will be a subset of your list.

FAFSA is just a form to fill out. Don't let it intimidate you. You can do your FAFSA as soon as your taxes are done. That's an independent step. If you're not accepted yet, or haven't decided yet, that's fine, go ahead and get it done. February is the usual timeframe for FAFSA, and you have to do it every year.

You're at the mercy of your school to find out what to do for institutional aid, so don't worry about that yet. The "NEED Access" thing depends on whether your med school uses it. Info about your parents isn't required except for institutional aid.

Best of luck to you.
