I haven't submitted my application yet. I have a pending FAP application (I have to submit all these crazy documents). The problem is, I cannot submit my amcas application while it's pending. I am qualified for it (parents make 35k total a year and 300% poverty for the household is like 55k). So should I submit now, or wait even longer and save hundreds of dollars? To pay for these application fees I will have to take out a personal loan, so this is really screwing me over. What should I do?

(yes pun intended in thread title in hopes to lighten the situation for myself)

I would wait. No need to get yourself into debt over the app.

The thing is I need to request a duplicate W2 form. I don't know how long that will take. I'm not sure if it will take a couple days or a couple of weeks. Should I still wait?

Calling the office of fap and asking them for an estimate of the time before you're complete might be worthwhile.

Damn. 3-4 days to get my W2 form and up to 2 weeks to process my FAP app.

The pics are hilarious btw

fap it up, they give a much longer estimate than it normally takes..

imo, submitting june 8th vs june 20th isn't a very big difference, wouldn't be worth the hundreds of dollars, especially if you'd have to take out a loan for it..

The alternative to fap is going to cost you a lot of money (aint' that the truth).

It's not how quickly you get it in,

it is how quickly you follow-up with the secondary that really matters.

Just how soon should I send in my secondaries? I havent sent in my primary yet as I'm still waiting to get my FAP approve. Also, does FAP waive the secondaries fees too? I'm really worried because I really have no way of paying for the application (but to borrow money)

Once they got all of my w-2s my fap was processed within a week. I think it's definitely worth it, not only for the MCAT reprieve and the primaries, but most schools will waive secondary fees if (and only if) you've been fap'd. I was in your same boat (needing a loan) and believe me, you don't want to start those random one-off loans any sooner than you have to...

I applied last cycle and was approved for FAP. Totally worth it to wait and get your FAP approved before submitting your primary app especially since it usually doesn't take as long as they say it does to get approved. I submitted my FAP application in May last year (can't remember exactly when), got the e-mail that they received all my supporting documents 5/28 and got approved for FAP the very next day. Also, FAP approval does waive almost all secondary fees as well. You have to contact each school to see whether they waive it (only 2 that I'm aware of don't waive it), whether it's waived automatically or whether you have to do anything to get it waived (usually just click fee waiver on secondary payment page or submit copy of FAP approval page and the school does it for you). I highly suggest you wait and get FAP approved, you will need that money for interview traveling. Good luck!

Does FAP apply to TMDSAS and the secondaries (for texas schools)?
