So in lab today, one of the dentists mentioned that he wasn't using indirect vision on the maxillary, save few times when he was "checking out his work..." and he'd been doing so for 30+ yrs. It seems like this would be horrible on your back/neck...

Just wondering how many of you use indirect vision, when you're prepping teeth (just amalgam at this point)? Personally I started using indirect, so I'm getting better at it, although I've only been doing it for a few months-so I have vast room for improvement.

That's probably one of the worst things I've ever heard a practicing dentist say. Is that the correct context?

You *must* use indirect vision. Not using it for a couple of days, much less 30 years, would do some serious damage to my neck and back.

i hardly use indirect vision - I check my work with the mirror but I can see almost everything directly and after a while you know where you are by feel.

I stand corrected. 😀 Maybe NOT using it is more common than I was led to believe.

...how do u see the distals of #2, 15 without bending over or straining your neck??
do you seat your patient almost upside down?
do u use a intraoral cam?
