I plan to take the DAT in early August and i am studying for it now just to make sure I get a good score. I am applying through tmdsas and i was wondering would it be to late to apply by the end of August? Or could i summit and update my DAT? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

submit it because it takes 1 month to actually send to ds so by the time you finish the DAT the application would be sent.

Agreed. You need to get this in first thing. The scores can come in later.
