I ran into financial difficulty and did not have the money to apply DO until now. Is it to late to apply now? I wanted to apply to PCOM, VCOM and possibly one or two more. My stats are PS 8, VR 8, BS 13 (29M) and 3.7 GPA. Is it worth it now? Thanks for any input. I do have a DO LOR.

Gah, I'll spare you now from much more malicious posters and say kindly to try to search a little before you post this thread topic. It seems as though every week a new thread like this pops up.

The long and short of: the earlier the better. Just now submitting AACOMAS is not a good idea unless you are really competitive. Only the adcoms can truly decide that.

That being said, people do get accepted straight out of interviews in March and April, but it's much harder.

Yea.. You are late in the cycle... But if you've got the money and want to put forth the effort it's worth having a greater than zero chance. I just got verified today... Submitted 10/30... So things have sped up at AACOMAS. Best of luck!

You could haved notified AACOMAS about that and would have gotten a fee waiver. Your stats are very good, give it a try but its kind of late. Most people get their primaries in by early June and start submitting secondaries in July and August.

What do you think the verification time is at this point. 4-6 weeks? This would put you complete sometime in January.

I submitted mine in late May, I have no idea how long it would take at this point, could be longer or could be less, but it is very late in the process this year.

It may be late but you never know. If you have the $ then send in your primary ASAP and start doing the secondaries (for those that have it online ASAP - obviously don't submit until after your primary is verified) and get your letters and everything ready to go; the day you get verified is the day you mail everything out! It may be worth it if you apply broadly enough instead of sitting around for another year, assuming the rest of your application is competitive. Some students at my school and at a few others submitted their secondaries in February.

Just know that, like the others have said, it is a late and it will be harder, but not impossible. If you have the $$ and you're willing to take the chance I say it's worth it. You get in, great! If not then you just end up where you are now; so you are not losing much, just $$$ (if you don't get in then you can get a job with your free time and make your app more competitive for the next cycle).
