TO LECOM student, 3 year DO program

Hey I was just wondering out of curiousity how the 3 year system works, is it 3 years med and 3 year residency, is their any contracts in place that you have to practice family medicine. It seems like a great program, I wonder why other medical schools did not think of it. What's the living and costs down there for the entire duration. I might get a friend interested in this program since she wants to go to med school solely for primary care.
