In NYC, CVS is interviewing 5th year interns (not 6th) and telling them that there are two candidates for every spot open. The half that dont make it will have their status changed to techs or fired.

I was wondering if that is the same in other regions? There is almost no point in hiring interns now since you train them... and then you lose them in a year.

CVS Region 9, Northern NJ. We have 32 candidates in which 24 full time positions are going to be offered.

only gotta be in the top half of the pool to get a full time job in nyc? nice!

What would be the criteria for how the candidates are favored over one another? Seniority? LOR's from the pharmacists they've worked under?

I wonder if this is tri-state/area thing or for entire US. Hmm... We have 6 spots open for 12 candidates.

we're also having 5th yr intern interviews late march
in the tri-state areas. however i thought it was for an
advance contract offer? with signon bonus? or are my
assumptions incorrect?

Orange County, California CVS was not hiring any 4th year interns whatsoever as of last summer...the manager who said he'd love to have me back said his hands were tied by district.

thats what it is here wtf is a tri state area..

here , at least from people ive talked to, sign on w/ walg or cvs in december, jan, feb, for the signing bonus and getting a guaranteed store. all others just get whatever is open come graduation time. most p4s that i know already have contracts signed.

Absolutely. Things are tight!

I have to move back to mommy's house 😳... to avoid floating.

Theres nothing wrong with that...although at my age that would be strange for me...and my parents 🙂

Reviews from their own pharmacists and co-workers, plus the interview--do you say the right things, are you a team player, are you fitted for retail?

CVS in Chicago doesn't guarantee interns jobs anymore. You'll have to float 1-2 years now. The past two years the hours guaranteed were only 30 hours per week not 40 hours per week. Sign on bonuses are diminishing as well.

That's also how it is in southern California. Even if you do get an offer, you only work 2-3 days a week.

Nice. So now they can cut out benefits, too. WTF???
